Horror fiction doesn't have to be trapped in a book or on the big screen, below you will find classics and new horror fiction that you can download to read on your computer or on some mobile devices.

Gutenberg Project
The Gutenberg Project has many classic books in digital format on its horror bookshelf. Better known classic horror available includes Edgar Allen Poe’s short stories, Robert Louis Stevenson’s The strange case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, Dracula by Bram Stoker and Frankenstein by Mary Wollstonecraft. Experiment with download formats to suit, I found html.zip files convenient.

This novel is posted in a blog format of very short chapters. It is set in Manhattan, one month after New York has been overrun by zombies. Monster Island is the first volume in a trilogy, all of which are available from this site as well as a number of other of books by David Wellington in the horror genre. This website is not appropriate for sensitive readers.

The Horrible - Guy de Maupassant
What is horror? This short story falls into the category of real life horror where an unnamed General discusses the notion of horror and is speaking of two incidents during the war that he considered more than an everyday event that one may find terrifying and upsetting. This is quite unsettling to read, whether they are true or not.

Ok. This time it's from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. For Emmy nominated, suspenseful horror check out the episode Hush.
